Start with a repeatable baseline

Before changing many slicer settings, confirm the printer is mechanically ready, the build plate is clean and the filament is in good condition. Change one variable at a time so you can tell what actually improved the print.

Choose material by the job

PLA is a strong starting point for general models. PETG is useful when you need more toughness and temperature resistance. TPU is flexible and needs a different feeding and speed strategy. Enclosed-printer materials such as ABS and ASA require more attention to ventilation and temperature management.

Multicolor workflow

Plan color changes around the model, estimate purge waste before printing and use small tests when a new filament combination is involved.
